Press Release

South Staffs Sailing Club invites you and your family to come sailing for FREE at the club's 2013 Open Day on Saturday 13 April!

This fun-filled Open Day at this family friendly club near Gailey runs from 10am until 4pm and is guaranteed to offer something for everyone, whether you are a complete novice or are looking to get back into the sport after a break away.

Get a first taste of sailing with one of the club's experienced members, enjoy getting to grips with one of the club's own boats or sample the social side of what life at South Staffs SC can offer. The doors are open to welcome everyone regardless of age, gender or experience.

Just bring a change of clothes, soft-soled shoes and waterproofs and the club will supply everything else you need. Refreshments and light snacks will be available all day.

South Staffs SC is a recognised RYA Training Centre, meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety. In 2012 it was named Britain's top community sports club by the Sport and Recreational Alliance and was the 2011 RYA Club of the Year.

If you already know you want to learn to sail this year and can't wait to start participating in an amazing outdoor sport, where real life really does get left on the shore, South Staffs SC is running a number of RYA Start Sailing courses this summer, with the first beginning in April.

Meanwhile, if you used to be a keen sailor before life got in the way or the Olympics have inspired you to think about digging out your waterproofs and get back out on the water, South Staffs SC are running a brand new RYA Go Sailing programme of activities especially for people like YOU to rediscover the buzz of the sport throughout 2013.

RYA Go Sailing is a nationwide initiative from sailing's national governing body to encourage people who want to return to the sport, or practice recently learnt skills, to take advantage of increased opportunities at their local sailing club, and enjoy instruction and coaching sessions as well as supported sailing and social sailing sessions.
