2nd Penkridge Guides make 'The Promise'
The club hosted the 2nd Penkridge Guide group this week where 22 Guides were all given a sailing experience as part of their last night gathering before the summer break.
As well as the sailing, the girls (and siblings and parents) were playing around with canoes, water pistols, water bombs and even duck racing and egg and spoon races !
The location also inspired a water ceremony whereby 2 of the Leaders made 'The Guide Promise' and received their ‘badge of honour' presented by Diane Jones, the Regional..xxxx
The watching Swans were no doubt intrigued...!
After all the fun activities, the BBQ provided some hot food and drinks before the Guides carried out some more ‘Promise' ceremonies for the Guides themselves.
They all then sang their traditional closing song and thanked the club for the generous hosting and provision of equipment of facilities.
We hope to have inspired a few of the families to come and visit the club again in the future with children showing a keen interest in the sport.
Annette Fitzpatrick, the Club's Commodore, said "It was a pleasure having the Guides visit our club. The atmosphere on the water was joyous and cheerful with a clear excitement of being out on the water. I think the Guides (and parents) smiles and sounds of laughter said it all. Most enjoyable evening."
