Junior Sailing at South Staffs

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) launched a project (OnBoard) to get more children into sailing. This has been introduced by region over the last few years and the West Midlands have now been included and South Staffs has just become an OnBoard recognised club.

We believe that this project should run alongside our own junior training programme. We want to arrange things to help our members but we need to hear from you whether our ideas are "good", "bad" or you think will make no difference.

To hear about our plans, how you can get involved and to have your say we are planning an open discussion at the club on Saturday 27th November at 11.30am. We will try to limit this to one hour but there will be people about to talk to afterwards if you are able to stay.

As many members will testify, sailing can be a family sport and we hope that this new initiative will help us to deliver enthusiastic youngsters as well as keen and supportive parents. The emphasis will continue to be on having fun at the same time as learning a skill in the company of like-minded people. This develops the individual and also strengthens the club for the benefit of us all.

We look forward to discussing our plans with you on 27th November.
