Southport Junior National 12 Hour Race

Organised by: Southport Sailing Club

This event brings together youth sailors from all around the country to compete in Bosun's, GP14's and enterprise's.  This event is now in its 28th year.  Past years have seen the event take place in all wind strenghts from light breeze to 'hang on for dear life' winds and its never ceases to amaze people the level of skill shown by the youth sailors in all conditions.

2013 South Staffs Youth entered two teams (one male and one female).  After an hour of the race the two South Staffs GP's lead the way closely followed by West Lancashire Yacht Club.  These three boats pushed each other all through the race.  The firnal results were South Staffs Girls first and the boys coming in second, winning an impressive 7 trophies between them.

Results over the past four years:

2012    First and eleventh places                               2010      Second and ninth places
2011 First and fourth places 2009 First and tenth places

What this event shows is the depth and consistency of the youth sailing talent we have at South Staffs Sailing Club.
