Saturday 'Free Sailing' Volunteer Rota

Saturday Organised Free Sailing has now ceased !

Saturday Organised Free Sailing  has now stopped mainly due to lack of people attending.  We are very sorry for the few that did come and find it benificial but usually we had a two man team, sometime more, come and open the Club house and launch Safety boats etc. and sadley, with very many Saturdays no-one attending we have had to call it a day.

While the 3 year weed Control  trialing  was being run, this was not a real problem.  However, now that trial has come to an end, we can no longer justify the manpower required to offer this option to new and longer standing members.  At least we tried and I expect other practice  type formats will emerge.

Please don`t forget that as members, you can always come along almost any day that the Club is open for sailing  and practice knowing a Safety craft is on the water.

When the Club is Open  for events  such as  Training etc.,  there will be Free  Sailing available for Club Members.  There will be a few exceptions such as Open Days and Open Meetings etc.  Please check beforehand before sailing with the people around.

The historic chart below shows when Chain trawling  took  place  and times available.

A safety boat will be on the water and we hope there will be volunteers on the shore to give advice to those wanting assistance.  If only harrowing is taking place the safety boat may not be manned at all times.  Just keep to your set areas so we can see you at all times.

IMPORTANT:

As our lease only allows us to go onto the water from 10.00am in the autumn & spring so please do not launch until after this time. Initially the club will only be open until 1.00pm and unless special arrangements are made the clubhouse will be locked at 1.00pm so please make sure you are clear by that time.

Please take care when attaching and removing anchor bridle etc. as we don`t wont to get a Prop wrap .

Please REMEMBER to run across Zone 3 area after picking up and before dropping off Chain Rake  to mooring position.
Zone 1 - Runs across the Clubhouse from the left bank to just past the island, trying to run close to the bank - without running aground. We have found that if you run in an Anti-Clockwise direction you can get closer to the jety and shore line easier.

Zone 2 - Runs up the left bank to just past the Island, across to the Island and back to the right hand Jetty.

Zone 3 - Boat House Area - Sweep across Boat House entrance and 6-10 boat lengths along A5 Bank. Not too close because of underwater hidden wall.

Please be aware of any Fishermen and try to keep clear. We don`t want to upset them. Trawl another sector if this is the case.
